About The Position

This course, DVM 4560 Étude approfondie des projets de développement international (3 credits), focuses on an in-depth study of international development projects. It compares current and traditional approaches to project life cycle analysis, covers budgeting, and examines human resource and risk management within the context of international development projects. Project evaluation, including an overview of main methods, will be discussed. Alternatives to results-based management such as adaptive management, participatory planning, impact mapping, and complexity analysis will also be explored. This course is restricted to students enrolled in the specialized programs of International Development and Globalization, International Economics and Development, and the Integrated Program in Civil Law and International Development and Globalization. It is a seminar component with prerequisites of DVM 3560 and 51 university credits. The course is scheduled for Wednesdays from 8:30 AM to 11:20 AM and will be delivered in person.

Requirements

  • Completed or in-progress Doctorate in international development or a related field, OR a Master's degree (MA, MBA, MPA, etc.) with five (5) years of experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in managing international development projects.
  • Experience in university teaching is an asset.
  • Experience in the Experiential Learning Program (RAEA) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course DVM 4560 Étude approfondie des projets de développement international.
  • Conduct in-depth study of international development projects.
  • Compare current and traditional approaches to project life cycle analysis.
  • Cover budgeting, human resource management, and risk management in international development projects.
  • Provide an overview of main methods for project evaluation.
  • Discuss alternatives to results-based management (adaptive management, participatory planning, impact mapping, complexity analysis).
  • Assign a minimum of 60% of the final student grade to experiential learning activities, as this course is part of the Experiential Learning Program (RAEA).
