About The Position

This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach FLS 2581 H00, an oral and written comprehension French as a Second Language (FSL) course associated with ECH 1500. The course is designed for non-francophone students and aims to develop their second language comprehension skills (listening and reading) while helping them assimilate the material from a discipline-specific course (ECH 1500). While exam answers in the discipline course can be in English or French, answers in the language course must be in French only. The FLS professor is also required to audit the discipline course, ECH 1500 B00, which runs on Tuesdays from 10:00 AM to 11:20 AM and Thursdays from 8:30 AM to 9:50 AM, in person. The FLS 2581 H00 course schedule is Thursdays from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, also in person.

Requirements

Master's degree in Didactics of French as a Second Language or a relevant field.
Two years of FSL teaching experience at the university level, or equivalent.
Familiarity with software and technology relevant to teaching FLS courses.
Knowledge of immersion pedagogy demonstrated by CV.
Professors who taught an FLS/ESL course at OLBI before January 1, 2018, are considered to meet the degree requirement.
An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

Teach FLS 2581 H00, focusing on oral and written comprehension in French as a Second Language.
Develop students' second language comprehension skills (listening and reading).
Assist students in assimilating the material from the associated discipline course (ECH 1500).
Ensure that answers in the language course are submitted in French only.
Audit the discipline course, ECH 1500 B00.
