About The Position

This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach FLS 2581 G00, an oral and written comprehension course in French as a second language, associated with ECO 1504 C00. The course is designed for non-francophone students and aims to develop their second language comprehension skills (listening and reading) while helping them assimilate the subject matter of the discipline. Students in the discipline course (ECO 1504) may submit exam answers in English or French, but answers in the language course must be in French only. The FLS professor will also be required to follow the discipline course, ECO 1504 C00, which has a schedule of Monday 16:00-17:20 and Wednesday 14:30-15:50, and is delivered in person. Students may be enrolled in sections B00, C00, or D00 of ECO 1504.

Requirements

Master's degree in Didactics of French as a Second Language or a relevant field for teaching French as a Second Language.
Two years of experience teaching French as a Second Language at the university level, or equivalent.
Familiarity with software and technology relevant to teaching French as a Second Language courses.
Knowledge of immersion pedagogy demonstrated by the CV.
Any professor who taught an FLS/ESL course at OLBI before January 1, 2018, is considered to meet the educational requirement.

Responsibilities

Teach FLS 2581 G00, focusing on oral and written comprehension in French as a second language.
Develop students' second language comprehension skills (listening and reading).
Assist students in assimilating the subject matter of the associated discipline course (ECO 1504).
Follow the discipline course, ECO 1504 C00, which is delivered in person.
Ensure all language course responses are submitted in French only.
