Product Marketing Manager

Upwind Security•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

Upwind is hiring a Senior Product Marketing Manager to own how its cloud and AI security platform is positioned for customers. The role develops industry- and persona-specific messaging, use cases, and proof points, accounting for buyer needs and regulatory contexts. It is field-facing and closely connected to sales, with an emphasis on content and expertise that help sellers in active deals rather than presentation materials alone. The role reports to the Head of Product Marketing and works daily with Product, Sales, Sales Architects, and Customer Success. It supports sales enablement, competitive positioning, customer proof, and live customer conversations, while carrying feedback from the field into product positioning and launch readiness. Upwind describes its platform as helping security, development, and DevOps teams understand cloud workload, API, and agent connections, prioritize critical risks and reachable exposures, detect attacks, trace findings to source code, and use AI Agents to identify, investigate, and suggest remediations.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in product marketing, technical marketing, industry marketing, or consulting at an enterprise SaaS company; cybersecurity or cloud infrastructure experience is preferred.
  • Experience creating messaging and materials that sales teams use in live customer conversations, and revising them when they are ineffective.
  • Competitive instincts in a displacement motion, including the ability to shape the criteria buyers evaluate rather than simply respond to a competitor's checklist.
  • Industry fluency or the ability and appetite to quickly learn the concerns of buyers in regulated industries and how they differ from cloud-native companies.
  • Strong writing skills, including the ability to produce practical content for live sales calls.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native technology such as Kubernetes, containers, APIs, IAM, vulnerability management, runtime security, CNAPP, CSPM, CWPP, AI security, or related domains; engineering experience is not required, but the candidate must be able to engage effectively with engineers.
  • Hands-on execution mindset, including writing materials, running sessions, and joining customer calls.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and speed, and willingness to help define the product marketing function.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in cybersecurity or cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop industry- and persona-specific use cases, messaging, and proof points, and refine the global narrative for different buyers and regulatory contexts.
  • Partner with Sales Enablement to create and deliver talk tracks, pitch narratives, objection handling, and supporting proof for sales representatives.
  • Measure whether sales representatives use the provided content and improve messaging when it does not land.
  • Support live deals through competitive escalations, positioning, objection handling, and customer conversations.
  • Own field-facing competitive materials, including battlecards, talk tracks, and discovery questions, informed by win/loss insights and field experience.
  • Develop customer proof, including case studies, use cases, references, and evidence supporting product claims.
  • Represent field feedback by carrying objections, loss reasons, and buyer language into positioning and product feedback.
  • Sign off on field readiness before product launches ship.
