Product Manager - Platform

Revel•Los Angeles, CA

About The Position

Revel is hiring a Product Manager to own its platform: how its software is installed and kept current, how organizations manage access, and how customers build on it. Revel provides test and control systems for teams building rockets, satellites, reactors, and other high-stakes hardware. Many customers operate Revel in their own facilities, including fully air-gapped sites, where failed upgrades, overly broad permissions, or administrative tasks that require an on-site Revel engineer can impose significant costs. The role covers access and administration, APIs and SDKs, and the fleet manager used for deployments and upgrades. The Product Manager will own the platform from strategy through launch and determine what it should do next. They will set product direction, work closely with engineering on architecture and tradeoffs, discover customer operational challenges, and define metrics for platform performance. The Product Manager will collaborate with platform engineers, design, front-end engineering, field deployment engineers, and other teams. The role provides direct exposure to the Head of Product and CEO, as well as feedback from customers operating high-stakes systems.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of product management experience.
  • Experience owning a platform, infrastructure, or enterprise product, such as deployment tooling, identity and access, admin experiences, or developer platforms.
  • Strong technical fluency, including the ability to work through architecture and tradeoffs with engineers and document them clearly.
  • Experience shipping products used by administrators, IT teams, or security teams.
  • Ability to work across engineering, design, sales, marketing, and executives and explain technical tradeoffs to each audience.
  • Ability to begin work without fully defined requirements, conduct discovery, form hypotheses, and execute.
  • Strong product judgment, a high bar for quality, and willingness to learn from mistakes and take feedback seriously.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a software engineer.
  • Experience shipping software for on-premise or air-gapped environments.
  • Experience with identity and access standards such as SAML, OIDC, or SCIM.
  • Experience designing or managing public APIs and SDKs.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, energy, or another regulated or safety-critical domain.

Responsibilities

  • Own access and administration features, including SSO, role-based access control, admin tooling, user preferences, and system health.
  • Make the platform straightforward to pass through security reviews and for customer IT teams to manage.
  • Set strategy for Revel’s APIs and SDKs, including what they expose, versioning, and support commitments.
  • Partner with platform engineering on architectural choices and own the product side of multitenancy, scale, and reliability tradeoffs.
  • Conduct discovery with customer administrators, IT and security teams, and forward deployed engineers to identify costly operational workflows.
  • Own the deployment and upgrade experience end to end, including connected installations and fully offline sites.
  • Define and track platform metrics, such as upgrade success rate, time to upgrade, time to onboard a new organization, and support load per installation.
  • Own the platform from strategy through launch and decide what it should do next.

  • 401(k) plan.
  • Equity for all full-time employees.
  • Company-paid life insurance.
  • Paid maternity and paternity leave.
