Product Manager - Platform

Bitwarden
•$150,000 - $160,000•Remote

About The Position

As Product Manager, Platform at Bitwarden, you will own strategy and execution for deployment optionality: shared capabilities that let Bitwarden behave consistently and securely across its cloud, regional or government cloud, and self-hosted deployments. You will guide how each Bitwarden app connects to and is configured for the appropriate deployment context, and define which behaviors may differ based on factors such as federal security standards (FedRAMP and FIPS), IT-managed device settings, and self-hosting constraints. You will work with Engineering, Architecture, BRE, SRE, Security, and Design to turn initiatives into clear, shippable outcomes for product teams and customers. You will also collaborate with Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Implementation Engineering to connect deployment flexibility with public sector, regulated, and large enterprise customer needs and compliance requirements. Customer feedback, deployment and upgrade data, and competitive benchmarking will inform roadmap decisions, with attention to the needs of both self-hosted operators and cloud customers. This is an all-remote role for someone located in the U.S.; there is no time-zone preference. Bitwarden does not offer visa sponsorship at this time. The U.S. starting base compensation range is $150,000–$160,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, relevant experience, skill set, and location market data. Compensation outside the U.S. differs by market.

  • Experience with platform features of B2B SaaS products.
  • Experience working with U.S. Federal Government customers.
  • Strong technical aptitude, focused on authentication architectures and the software deployment lifecycle.
  • Ability to translate complex security concepts into intuitive administrator experiences.
  • Ability to discuss technical topics and technology tradeoffs with engineering and architecture teams.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to make informed prioritization and tradeoff decisions with engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A growth mindset and desire to learn from others.
  • Excitement and enthusiasm for open source and improving internet security.

Responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap for shared capabilities that let Bitwarden run across cloud, government cloud, and self-hosted setups, including how each app connects to and is configured for the right context.
  • Define what remains consistent and what may differ by deployment setup, and document decisions for product teams.
  • Research, design, and propose professional services offerings that support customers with special deployment requirements across cloud, government cloud, and self-hosted setups.
  • Drive cross-team initiatives, including the FedRAMP-compliant cloud and the move to a service-oriented architecture, while clarifying scope, sequencing, and dependencies across Engineering, SRE, and product teams.
  • Analyze how competitive and adjacent password and identity vendors approach government, regulated, and self-hosted deployments, and refine Bitwarden’s competitive edge.
  • Model the relationship between deployment options and public sector wins, enterprise deal velocity, expansion ARR, and retention.
  • Define and monitor adoption metrics, such as customers by deployment type, upgrade success and lag, and feature-parity gaps between setups.
  • Support Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Implementation Engineering by explaining how deployment options map to customer compliance requirements, including in RFP responses and deal-stage conversations.
  • Share progress, roadmap updates, and wins with leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate specification writing, competitive analysis, data modeling, and rapid prototyping.

Benefits
