Founding Product Manager

PhonelyUnited States, CA

About The Position

Phonely builds conversational voice AI agents for high volume phone workflows. Our customers use us to qualify leads, book appointments, route calls, and resolve real customer conversations in production. We are growing fast and just getting started. This is our first product hire. You will be helping drive the direction of Phonely. Our customers are pretty good at telling us what hurts right now, and much less so at telling us what they are going to need in six months to a year from now. That's where you'll come in. You will spend a lot of your time sitting between engineering and customer success, pulling everything together into a roadmap the team believes in, and then staying with it until it's shipped and people are actually using it. We think of this as a revenue generating role. What you choose to build determines which deals we can win and which customers grow with us, and you will be measured on that alongside the rest of the go-to-market team.

Requirements

  • At least three years in product management, including something you took from a vague idea all the way to a product people love
  • Experience owning a real business outcome and comfort being measured on it
  • Exceptional organization and follow-through
  • Excellent writing and communication. You are the connective tissue between engineers, customer success, sales, and the founders, and most of that job is making complicated things clear to people who are not in the weeds with you
  • Enough technical fluency that you can talk with engineers about APIs, latency, and model behavior

Nice To Haves

  • You have shipped AI or LLM-based products into production
  • You have worked closely with a customer success or support team before
  • You know the world of call centers, contact centers, or high volume phone operations
  • You have been the first PM somewhere and have opinions about what you would do differently the second time

Responsibilities

  • Own the voice AI product end to end, from the first customer conversation through launch, adoption, and iteration
  • Talk to customers constantly. Sit on calls, read transcripts, dig through tickets and feature requests, and use that evidence to decide what deserves to get built
  • Translate what customer success and sales are hearing into a roadmap with clear priorities and tradeoffs
  • Work shoulder to shoulder with engineering and design through the whole build
  • Define what success looks like before you ship and then go check whether you were right
  • Partner with sales, marketing, and customer success on positioning, launches, and enablement so the thing you built actually gets used
  • Build the product function itself: how we prioritize, how we document, how we run launches, and how we measure what worked
  • Argue with us. You will be working alongside people who have strong opinions of their own, so bring one, back it with evidence, change your mind when someone has a better one, and then commit
  • Set the vision for where the product goes over the next year and make the case for it

Benefits

  • Full health and dental coverage
  • 401k with 4% match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Meaningful equity
  • Wellness stipend
  • Race/tournament stipend (so you can go compete in cool stuff!)
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided
  • Annual offsites in fun locations (costa rica, the rockies)
