Product Manager, Growth

Glean•San Francisco, CA
•$175,000 - $280,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Glean is seeking a strategic, execution-oriented Product Manager to define and build its Growth product area. The role spans product-led growth (PLG), platform-level activation, off-surface engagement, and broader product growth strategy. The Product Manager will shape how Glean turns initial interest into durable, expanding usage by designing experiences and growth loops that improve activation, retention, and organic expansion across users and teams. Working with the Product lead and partners in engineering, design, data, marketing, and go-to-market, this person will identify high-leverage opportunities, clarify an emerging product area, and translate growth concepts into measurable product experiences. The role has significant influence over both the roadmap and the development of a lean product team. It calls for deep PLG knowledge, enthusiasm for AI, and hands-on product craft, including detailed user interfaces, onboarding flows, and experiments. The position is hybrid, with four days per week in Glean’s San Francisco office. The stated base salary range is $175,000–$280,000 annually. Depending on role eligibility, compensation may also include variable compensation, equity, and benefits. Glean describes its benefits as including medical, vision, and dental coverage, a generous time-off policy, a 401(k) plan, a home-office improvement stipend, annual education and wellness stipends, regular company events, and daily healthy lunches. The interview process includes a brief AI-focused exercise or discussion.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of product management experience.
  • Track record of owning and shipping growth, activation, or PLG product areas in B2B SaaS, consumer, AI, or platform products.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Fluency in growth mechanics, including funnels, activation, retention, virality, and lifecycle.
  • Ability to define metrics, instrument funnels, and interpret results with engineering and data teams; data and experimentation guide decision-making.
  • Strong product sense and detailed product thinking, with the ability to move between strategy and execution and specify onboarding and adoption experiences.
  • Deep interest in AI and enterprise software, and ability to thrive in ambiguous spaces by creating clarity, momentum, and alignment.
  • Excellent communication, ownership, initiative, and cross-functional collaboration skills; learning and growth mindset.
  • Mission-first approach, measuring success by product and team outcomes.
  • Early adopter of AI in one's own work and enthusiasm for helping customers accelerate AI adoption.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, quantitative, or design-related field, such as Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, HCI, or Statistics.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the Growth product strategy and roadmap, translating company vision into bets across activation, retention, and expansion using funnel data, experimentation, and customer behavior.
  • Own the end-to-end PLG motion, from acquisition and onboarding through activation, habit formation, and self-serve expansion; design loops that foster team- and organization-wide usage.
  • Build platform-level growth capabilities, including referrals, invitations, notifications, in-product education, and lifecycle messaging across product surfaces.
  • Drive off-surface growth through entry points such as the browser extension, email, Slack, Teams, and mobile.
  • Partner with engineering, design, and data teams to turn ambiguous concepts into well-scoped products and experiments, with clear user flows, interaction patterns, instrumentation, quality standards, and measurable outcomes.
  • Establish an experimentation and measurement culture by defining activation and retention metrics, instrumenting the funnel, and running A/B tests.
  • Prioritize customer needs and execute efficiently while balancing long-term platform opportunities, urgent user pain points, strategic customer requests, and company priorities.
  • Collaborate with go-to-market, marketing, solutions, and support teams to understand customer problems and align growth strategy with how users adopt and spread Glean.
