Product Manager, License Compliance & Entitlements

Centric SoftwareCampbell, CA
$140,000 - $160,000Hybrid

About The Position

Centric Software is seeking a Product Manager for License Compliance & Entitlements to manage how enterprise customers are provisioned, configured, and governed according to their contracts. This role is crucial due to customers operating single-tenant deployments across various hosting models (vendor-hosted, customer cloud, on-premises), making consistent and defensible license compliance challenging but essential. The Product Manager will work at the intersection of product, compliance, sales, engineering, support, and legal. Key responsibilities include analyzing customer configuration and usage data to ensure adherence to contracted scope, developing tooling and a product roadmap to prevent license misuse, and enabling go-to-market and support teams with data-backed insights on entitlements. A significant challenge involves governing customer API access through AI services and RPA/integration platforms, mapping this access to licensing, and establishing policies, tooling, and contract language for management. This is a hands-on role requiring comfort with data analysis, roadmap development, contract review, and customer interactions.

Requirements

  • 3–7+ years in product management, license/entitlement management, or software compliance — mid-level candidates toward the lower end, senior candidates toward the higher end.
  • Direct experience with enterprise software in a B2B context, ideally with single-tenant, customer-cloud, and/or on-premise deployment models.
  • Demonstrated experience with software licensing, entitlements, or license compliance (from the vendor/publisher side is strongly preferred).
  • Product management capability: has owned a roadmap, prioritized across stakeholders, and shipped features or tooling in partnership with engineering.
  • Strong data fluency — able to analyze usage/configuration data, spot anomalies, and turn findings into a clear narrative and recommendation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to produce customer-facing materials and represent the company confidently on customer and prospect calls.
  • Comfort operating cross-functionally across sales, engineering, support, and legal, and influencing without direct authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI service licensing and/or governing programmatic API access via AI/agentic tools (e.g., MCP servers) or RPA / integration platforms (e.g., Boomi, MuleSoft, Workato).
  • Familiarity with API productization, usage metering, or consumption-based licensing models.
  • Experience supporting customer audits, true-ups, or revenue assurance.
  • Exposure to contract structure and negotiation and working alongside legal on licensing terms.
  • Background in software asset management (SAM), GRC, or entitlement platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; MBA or relevant certifications a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer user configuration and usage data across all deployment models (vendor-hosted single-tenant, customer-cloud single-tenant, and on-premise) to verify customers are operating within the scope of their contracts.
  • Identify patterns of license misuse, overage, or ambiguous usage, and translate findings into clear, evidence-based summaries.
  • Establish repeatable methods and metrics for measuring entitlement compliance across a diverse enterprise customer base.
  • Define how programmatic access to our APIs — including via AI services / MCP servers and RPA or integration tools such as Boomi — is licensed, measured, and enforced.
  • Partner with product and engineering to design entitlement models and controls appropriate for automated, machine, and agent-driven usage.
  • Anticipate emerging access patterns and get ahead of them with policy, tooling, and contract clarity.
  • Own a product roadmap of compliance and entitlement feature improvements, prioritized by risk, revenue impact, and customer experience.
  • Work with engineering to improve administration and entitlement tooling so that license misuse is prevented or surfaced automatically rather than caught after the fact.
  • Balance enforcement with usability so that controls protect the business without creating friction for legitimate customers.
  • Partner with the sales team to audit customers, present usage data, and support true-up / expansion conversations with credible, well-presented evidence.
  • Equip the support team ahead of product releases — especially releases that change or restrict license usage — so they can confidently answer customer questions on product changes.
  • Create customer-facing materials, including training content, release notes, and sales presentations, that clearly explain usage policies and entitlement changes.
  • Contribute to the improvement of customer contracts to clarify permitted usage, close ambiguity, and reflect new access models (including AI/RPA API access).
  • Partner with the legal team to update contract language and licensing terms, and to ensure product controls and contractual terms stay aligned.
  • Join customer and prospect-facing calls to explain our usage and licensing policies and answer questions with authority and clarity.
  • Serve as a trusted, plain-spoken voice on "what's allowed and why," representing both the company's interests and a good customer experience.

Benefits

  • Equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, color, age, religion, protected veteran or disability status or genetic information.
