Anthropic is seeking a Product Designer for its Safeguards work. Design at Anthropic combines craft, research, and product intuition to shape how people experience AI. The designer will work on products used by millions of people and help establish interaction patterns for emerging AI capabilities, partnering closely with engineers and researchers. The role calls for staying close to model capabilities, prototyping rapidly, working comfortably amid ambiguity, and balancing speed with attention to visual details, copy, and edge cases. Designers are expected to question established UI assumptions, develop patterns native to AI, and use tools such as Claude Code to extend their work. The designer will collaborate across product, engineering, research, and other stakeholder teams to define product vision, strategy, and roadmaps and contribute actively to shipping. They will understand product technical architecture, define primitives for new capabilities, own feature areas with care for detail and polish, improve the quality and consistency of broader flows, and create polished interfaces that build trust and demonstrate AI capabilities. The role operates in a fast-paced, ambiguous, resource-constrained startup environment. Anthropic is a public benefit corporation focused on creating reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems that are safe and beneficial. The company describes itself as highly collaborative and prioritizes impactful work toward trustworthy AI. It offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and office space for collaboration. The hybrid policy currently expects staff to be in an office at least 25% of the time; some roles may require more.
