About The Position

WTAE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is seeking a News Producer to create meaningful and memorable newscasts. The producer brings creative vision, makes decisions, communicates production plans, pursues major stories, handles breaking news, and presents important weather information. Accuracy is the top priority, and the role requires working quickly and collaboratively with newsroom professionals. The producer selects, researches, and writes content for live newscasts; guides reporters and anchors in story production; coordinates the creative vision with newsroom and production teams; and booths assigned newscasts, breaking news, and weather events. The role also includes live timing of newscasts. The schedule may include holidays, nights, weekends, and overnights. The producer must be flexible and available during breaking news.

Requirements

Professional or college producing experience.
Experience or working knowledge of a broadcast TV newsroom.
Writing and copy-editing skills.
Ability to coordinate several crews and responsibilities simultaneously.
Experience summarizing information into easy-to-understand components.
Creative presentation style and ability to showcase available resources and elements.
Highest journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
Availability to work holidays, nights, weekends, and overnights, and flexibility to be available during breaking news.

Responsibilities

Select, research, and write content for live newscasts.
