About The Position

The Produce Manager oversees the produce department and its associates, promotes positive customer service, and supports sales, merchandising, product quality, freshness, sanitation, and department profitability. The manager schedules, trains, recognizes, and supervises associates; participates in performance reviews and interviews; and uses the Learning Management System for current and new associates. The role develops localized merchandising plans and displays, coordinates cross-merchandising with other departments and the store manager, and monitors competitor activity. The position tracks inventory and department records, verifies deliveries and invoices, manages receiving and product rotation, controls expenses and labor costs, and reduces losses from damage, spoilage, and shrink. It ensures produce and prepared products meet quality and freshness standards, are correctly priced and displayed, and that required logs and company procedures are followed. The manager also supports department cleaning, sanitation, safety, and organization, including proper use of company-provided personal protective equipment. The position may assist with unloading, stocking, other departments, and—in select stores—the Floral department.
