About The Position

The Produce Clerk sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. The role maintains the department’s overall environment by assisting Members with product knowledge and customer service and ensuring produce meets or exceeds company quality standards. The position also supports club policies and procedures, safe and positive experiences for Members and team members, and daily GOLD Member and club standards. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.

• Ability to frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; heavier or awkward objects over 50 pounds may need to be lifted and moved with assistance.
• Ability to move frequently on hard surfaces and perform tasks involving bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.

Responsibilities

• Assist Members in the produce department by answering questions, recommending products and safe handling tips, and helping Members find products throughout the club.
• Inspect, rotate, and store produce deliveries, ensuring received produce meets or exceeds company standards.
• Rotate produce on the sales floor to maintain freshness and variety; keep cases and displays stocked, neat, and clean; and remove products unsuitable for sale.
• Maintain the produce reserve stock area by dating and rotating back stock and organizing and condensing the storage area daily.
• Dispose of damaged, spoiled, or expired products according to established guidelines.
• Assist the Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
• Clean and sanitize produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
• Generate signage and perform price checks as needed, ensuring items are accurately priced and signed.
• Follow club policies and procedures and perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Support team and Member service standards, including maintaining a safe and positive environment, working collaboratively, and addressing or escalating Member concerns.
