About The Position

The Produce Clerk sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. The role maintains the department’s overall environment by assisting Members with product knowledge and customer service and ensuring produce meets or exceeds company quality standards.

The clerk inspects, stores, and rotates produce; maintains clean, organized, fully stocked displays and reserve storage; removes unsuitable goods; follows disposal guidelines; helps with inventory and order processing; cleans and sanitizes equipment and areas; and ensures signage and prices are accurate. The role also follows club policies, supports a safe and positive experience for Members and team members, may work in other departments as needed, and requires regular, predictable, full attendance.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; may need to lift and move heavy or awkward objects over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Spend most of the time moving frequently on hard surfaces and positioning to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.

Responsibilities

• Assist Members in the produce department by answering questions, recommending products and safe-handling tips, and helping Members find products throughout the club.
• Inspect, rotate, and store deliveries, ensuring received produce meets or exceeds company standards.
• Rotate produce on the sales floor to maintain freshness and variety; keep cases and displays stocked, neat, and clean; remove products unsuitable for sale.
• Maintain the produce reserve stock area by dating and rotating back stock and keeping the storage area organized and condensed daily.
• Follow established guidelines for disposing of damaged, spoiled, or expired products.
• Assist the Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
• Clean and sanitize produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
• Generate signage and perform price checks as needed; ensure items are accurately priced and signed.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and support a safe, positive environment for Members and team members.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
