About The Position

The Produce Clerk sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. The role maintains the department’s overall environment by assisting members with product knowledge and customer service and ensuring produce meets or exceeds company quality standards.

The clerk supports a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked department; follows club policies and procedures; and helps deliver a positive member experience. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function. Other duties may be assigned, including work in other departments as needed.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Ability to frequently move about on hard surfaces and position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
• Ability to frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; may need to lift and move heavier or awkward objects over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Work experience in a produce department is preferred.
• Knowledge of fruits and vegetables, including seasonal items, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist members in the produce department by answering questions, recommending products and safe handling tips, and helping members find products throughout the club.
• Inspect, rotate, and store produce deliveries, ensuring received produce meets or exceeds company standards.
• Rotate produce on the sales floor to maintain freshness and variety; keep cases and displays stocked, neat, and clean; remove products unsuitable for sale.
• Maintain the produce reserve stock area by dating and rotating back stock and keeping storage organized and condensed daily.
• Follow established guidelines for disposing of damaged, spoiled, or expired products.
• Assist the Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
• Clean and sanitize produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
• Generate produce signage and perform price checks when needed; ensure items are accurately priced and signed.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and support their application and compliance.
• Work as a team to meet club standards and provide a safe, positive environment and service experience for members and fellow team members.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
