About The Position

The Overnight Produce Clerk sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. The role maintains the department’s overall environment by assisting Members with product knowledge and customer service and ensuring produce meets or exceeds company quality standards.

The position supports BJ’s club policies, procedures, compliance, safety, inclusion, and daily GOLD Member and Club Standards. It includes keeping product displays and back stock clean, organized, fresh, accurately priced, and properly signed; following safe handling and disposal guidelines; and assisting with inventory and order processing. The role may also involve duties in other departments as assigned. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function.

Responsibilities

• Assist Members in the produce department by answering questions, recommending products and safe handling tips, and helping Members find products throughout the club.
• Inspect, rotate, and store produce upon delivery, ensuring received products meet or exceed company standards.
• Rotate produce on the sales floor to maintain freshness and variety; keep cases and displays stocked, neat, and clean; remove products unsuitable for sale.
• Maintain the produce reserve stock area by dating and rotating back stock and keeping the storage area organized and condensed daily.
• Follow established guidelines when disposing of damaged, spoiled, or expired products.
• Assist the Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
• Clean and sanitize produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
• Generate signage and perform price checks as needed; ensure items are accurately priced and signed.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and support compliance, safety, and daily GOLD standards.
• Work in other departments and perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
