About The Position

The Produce Associate helps customers locate products and maintains the quality, presentation, cleanliness, and organization of the produce area and store. The role includes checking produce and refrigerator conditions, receiving and arranging products, managing displays and promotional signage, reducing shrinkage, and handling general cleaning and safety tasks. The associate works under the supervision of the store manager for receiving produce and performs other tasks assigned by the store manager. The position requires a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Ability to read at an eighth-grade level.
Six months of experience in the produce area.
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Advise customers where different products are located.
Ensure the lights in display cases are on.
Check refrigerator temperatures.
Clean shelves and make room for incoming products before they arrive.
Clean and organize the warehouse.
Arrange and rotate fruits and vegetables in the store.
Assemble and disassemble fruit and vegetable displays.
Check the quality of fruits and vegetables daily.
Reduce shrinkage by using fruits and vegetables before they spoil.
Place posters for bi-weekly specials with the corresponding fruit or vegetable.
Receive fruits and vegetables from suppliers under the supervision of the store manager.
Return misplaced fruits and vegetables to the correct location.
Handle equipment properly to extend product shelf life.
Collect garbage bags, including those from the kitchen, and take them to the outside trash container.
Clean the store, including restrooms.
Sweep and mop the store.
Keep the work area clean, orderly, and free of safety hazards.
Report faulty equipment and hazards to management.
Perform other tasks assigned by the store manager.
