About The Position

The Produce Associate maintains and operates the produce department, preparing and merchandising produce according to company and department standards while supporting the store’s financial interests. The role includes preparing, weighing, packaging, and labeling products; maintaining product quality and department presentation; assisting with deliveries; and providing a positive customer experience. The associate may also be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs and must complete other duties as assigned in a timely manner.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.
Ability to work with fresh fruits and vegetables without negative allergic consequences that adversely affect job performance.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills.
Detail-oriented.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Cut, slice, and prepare produce as directed; follow procedures for culling, trimming, and storing product.
Weigh, package, and label products.
Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
Fill, rotate, and merchandise produce and floral shelves, cases, and displays.
Assist with unloading deliveries and stacking product in coolers.
Notify the Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Use suggestive selling techniques with customers.
Maintain familiarity with department products, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use.
Maintain clean, attractive, and well-stocked departments.
Follow PPE and safety guidelines.
Follow food safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow Guest Experience Guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs when assigned.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned in a timely manner.
