About The Position

The Produce Associate maintains and operates the produce department by preparing merchandise according to company and department standards and helping ensure the work shift supports the store’s financial interests. The role includes preparing, packaging, labeling, stocking, rotating, and merchandising produce and floral products; assisting with deliveries; and maintaining department cleanliness, safety, and food-handling standards. The associate may also perform tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs and complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.
Ability to work with fresh fruits and vegetables without allergic consequences that adversely affect job performance.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills.
Detail-oriented.
Able to lift or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Able to stand and walk for extended periods and bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Cut, slice, and prepare produce as directed, following procedures for culling, trimming, and storing products.
Weigh, package, and label products.
Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
Fill, rotate, and merchandise produce and floral shelves, cases, and displays.
Assist with unloading deliveries and stacking products in coolers.
Notify the Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Use suggestive selling techniques with customers.
Maintain familiarity with department products, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use.
Maintain clean, attractive, and well-stocked departments.
Follow PPE and safety guidelines, food safety and cleaning expectations, and Guest Experience Guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs, when assigned.
Complete other duties as assigned in a timely manner.
