About The Position

Musicologie is hiring a Private Guitar Teacher for its Center City location in Philadelphia, which is opening in early 2027. The teacher will work with students of all ages and abilities, helping them identify their musical goals and progress through curriculum connected to those goals. The role emphasizes creating a safe, playful learning environment and building a supportive student-teacher relationship.

Teachers encourage community involvement through performances and group classes. They are expected to learn and apply Musicologie’s educational philosophy, curriculum, and processes; deliver an outstanding lesson experience to every student and family; and collaborate with other teachers and managers. Musicologie describes its approach as including teacher training, shadowing, opportunities for upward mobility, innovative programs and technology, and a collaborative community of musicians.

Requirements

• Be an excellent musician.
• Be excited to help students of all ages and abilities become passionate, proficient musicians.
• Communicate expertly in person and by email.
• Be extremely organized and self-motivated.
• Be curious and inspired to learn new things.
• Be able to work evening hours.
• Have a bachelor’s degree in the instrument or equivalent experience.
• Have teaching experience on the instrument.
• Have experience working with kids and families.

Responsibilities

• Teach guitar to students of all ages and abilities.
• Help students identify their goals and progress through curriculum related to those goals.
• Encourage community involvement through performances and group classes.
• Learn and follow Musicologie’s philosophy of education, curriculum, and processes.
• Deliver an outstanding lesson experience to every student and family.
