About The Position

Musicologie is hiring a Private Drum Teacher for its Center City location in Philadelphia, which is opening in early 2027. The teacher will work with students of all ages and abilities, help them identify musical goals, and guide their progress through curriculum related to those goals. The role emphasizes building positive student-teacher relationships, delivering engaging lessons, and encouraging participation in performances and group classes. Musicologie describes its approach as community-focused, using the Musicologie Method, which creates a safe environment and supports education through play. Teachers receive training and shadowing, and the organization offers opportunities for upward mobility, innovative programs and technology, and collaboration with fellow teachers and managers. The teacher is expected to learn and follow the organization’s educational philosophy, curriculum, and processes, and provide an outstanding lesson experience to students and families.

Requirements

Excellent musicianship.
Strong communication skills in person and by email.
Strong organizational skills.

Curiosity and willingness to learn new things.
Ability to work evening hours.
A bachelor’s degree in the instrument or equivalent experience.
Teaching experience on the instrument.
Experience working with children and families.
