About The Position

The Principal, Technical Program Manager leads complex, large-scale programs by defining goals, managing cross-functional dependencies, and driving end-to-end technology solutions. This role requires expertise in program planning, risk management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure successful delivery within resource and timeline constraints. The position involves translating technical requirements into scalable designs, overseeing operational excellence, and mentoring team members. The Marketplace TPM team leads Walmart’s key technology initiatives by partnering with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Design, and Business teams. The team thrives in complex settings, emphasizing operational excellence, technical expertise, and disciplined execution. They create scalable solutions that improve seller and customer experiences while reducing complexity. By establishing efficient operating frameworks, the team accelerates delivery with quality, transparency, and accountability across large, cross-functional programs. This role demands strong skills in program and project management, risk and stakeholder management, and technical design to drive meaningful and lasting results.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in program and project management, including risk and stakeholder management across complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Proven ability to define and execute end-to-end technology solutions with strong technical design knowledge in software, hardware, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Expertise in translating product requirements into scalable system architectures ensuring high availability and operational excellence.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to measure program success and mitigate risks.
  • Effective communication skills to align stakeholders and drive consensus in ambiguous situations.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring teams and improving workflows to enhance delivery efficiency.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 6 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
  • 8 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Project Management.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 4 years’ experience in product design.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
