About The Position

This position provides reservoir simulation engineering expertise for carbon sequestration projects during feasibility and development phases as part of a multidisciplinary subsurface sequestration development team. The role conducts dynamic reservoir simulation studies for carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects and gas storage, integrating reservoir and well data to forecast performance, optimize injection and operations, support asset development planning, and inform permit applications. It also contributes to reservoir characterization, uncertainty and risk assessment, reservoir description, and communication of field performance. The position is primarily office-based, with occasional fieldwork and travel, and may require work outside regular hours. No supervisory responsibility is assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • At least 7 years of reservoir simulation experience; candidates with less experience may be considered if they demonstrate exceptional skills or relevant expertise.
  • Experience with INTERSECT.
  • Experience with Petrel RE workflows, Pipesim/nodal analysis, and pressure transient testing.
  • Proven reservoir simulation experience on CCS projects, including model construction, updating, and history matching.
  • Working knowledge of CCS operations, project management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in basic engineering principles.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines.
  • Able to solve problems autonomously and seek guidance when necessary.
  • Able to work effectively in a team, follow directions, adhere to schedules, and pay attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record for travel.
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check before employment.
  • Able to sit, stand, walk, drive, perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.; visual and auditory acuity are needed for detailed work and communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree.
  • Past experience with Eclipse in CCS applications.
  • Experience in CO₂ EOR, core analysis, petrophysics, and programming languages.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct dynamic reservoir simulation studies for CCS projects and gas storage, building and refining models to describe physical processes and optimize injection and operating conditions for permit applications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate well and reservoir data, forecast reservoir performance, support operational and subsurface development planning, and optimize asset development strategies.
  • Apply reservoir engineering and simulation skills to reservoir characterization, opportunity assessment, and injection/production optimization.
  • Work with geoscientists, facilities engineers, petrophysicists, drilling engineers, and production engineers to incorporate data into reservoir models.
  • Identify key uncertainties and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
  • Enhance reservoir descriptions using fluid analysis, core evaluation, well-testing interpretation, and performance analysis, and integrate findings into simulation models.
  • Generate reports and visualizations communicating field performance to management and peers.
  • Demonstrate leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills in managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate professionally with colleagues using tact, courtesy, and clarity in communication.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and high performance, working non-traditional hours as needed.
  • Prioritize the safety of personnel, assets, and the public.
  • Perform other duties, including routine and special projects, as assigned.
