Principal Product Manager, Payer Solutions

Pomelo Care
•$180,000 - $210,000•Remote

About The Position

Pomelo Care is seeking a high-ownership product manager for its Payer Solutions team. The role focuses on using technology to help payer and employer partnerships launch successfully and demonstrate Pomelo’s value. The position spans partner launches, data exchange and integration, eligibility and outreach, operational and clinical workflows, and reporting and statistical analyses. The product manager carries problems from initial payer data delivery through launch, measurement, and value communication, and develops repeatable playbooks to make future launches faster and more reliable. Working across engineering, data, clinical operations, growth, and customer success, this role coordinates partner workstreams and helps determine how quickly programs launch, how many eligible patients are reached, and how partners understand results. Success is measured through goals such as time to launch, data quality, eligible population reached, enrollment, partner satisfaction, and renewal. The role is fully remote within the United States, with offices in New York City and San Francisco for employees who prefer in-person work. The expected base salary range is $180,000–$210,000, with eligibility for equity. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, competencies, and certifications.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in product management, implementation, solutions, operations, analytics, strategy, consulting, or a related area.
  • A track record of owning cross-functional projects from start to finish.
  • Ability to learn new domains quickly and work across healthcare data, outreach planning, and partner reporting.
  • Ability to structure ambiguous work, manage multiple workstreams, and keep cross-functional partners aligned.
  • Sound judgment about what to solve directly versus what to route to specialist teams, with clear handoffs and follow-through.
  • Ability to interpret analyses, assess assumptions and limitations, identify unexpected results, and explain reported numbers.
  • Strong communication skills, including explaining technical and data-heavy topics to payer executives, clinicians, engineers, and operations teams; clear writing and effective meeting facilitation.
  • Ability to understand partner priorities and focus work on what will affect their understanding and decisions.
  • Ability to deliver under tight constraints, make tradeoffs, and work resourcefully without sacrificing rigor or quality.
  • Deep passion for improving maternal and infant health in the United States and empathy for expecting and new parents, especially lower-income families.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, particularly value-based care, payer or employer partnerships, or a modern care delivery setting.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data such as eligibility and roster files, medical claims, or notifications of pregnancy, and concepts such as attribution, risk adjustment, or outcomes measurement.
  • Experience implementing or onboarding enterprise customers, especially when data integration is part of the launch.
  • Startup experience, particularly during a period of rapid growth.
  • Familiarity with SQL or similar tools, including the ability to explore datasets or check results.

Responsibilities

  • Run launch plans for new payer or employer partners, including scoping work, setting timelines, tracking cross-functional dependencies, and identifying blockers.
  • Translate contract terms into technical requirements, including eligibility, launch cohorts and timing, applicable benefits, markets, and populations.
  • Determine which work to handle directly and which to delegate to downstream teams, and make clear handoffs.
  • Define partner success measures, build reporting and dashboards, and present results in partner reviews.
  • Turn lessons from launches into standard processes, templates, data checks, and product requirements to make implementations faster, less manual, and less error-prone.
  • Pursue measurable goals related to launch timing, data quality, eligible population reach, enrollment, partner satisfaction, and renewal.
  • Coordinate work at the intersection of engineering, data, clinical operations, growth, and customer success.
  • Interpret data analyses, understand their assumptions and limitations, and use the results to guide partner decisions and communication.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families.
  • High-deductible health plan options with Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
  • Equity grant participation.
  • 401(k) program.
  • Competitive vacation policy.
  • 16 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • Fully remote work flexibility within the United States, with offices in New York City and San Francisco for those who prefer in-person work.
