Principal Product Manager - Financial Platform

BitGo•Palo Alto, CA
•$230,000 - $260,000•Onsite

About The Position

BitGo is hiring a Senior- or Principal-level Product Manager to own the product strategy for its financial and accounting platform. The role focuses on building scalable, auditable, self-service capabilities that help financial activity across products, legal entities, and jurisdictions reach the books accurately. The platform supports a public company and federally chartered trust bank, and must accommodate digital-asset activity such as on-chain transactions, custody, staking, tokenized assets, and settlement. The role owns the financial data and accounting platform roadmap, including ledger and sub-ledger integrity, reconciliation, fee and revenue calculation, client reporting, and feeds into the general ledger and financial close. It translates accounting, control, regulatory, and audit requirements into product capabilities and standards used across product teams. The position works closely with finance, accounting, engineering, compliance, legal, risk, audit, and commercial teams, coordinating delivery without positional authority. The role is full-time onsite at BitGo's Palo Alto office. The hire is expected to document financial data flows and gaps, agree on a dated roadmap with key partners, and ship a high-impact capability that measurably reduces manual effort or control risk during the first two quarters.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of product management experience, typically 9 or more years for Principal level.
  • At least 3 years building or scaling platform products used by multiple internal or external teams.
  • For Principal level, experience setting platform strategy and standards adopted by other teams.
  • An accounting or finance foundation, such as a CPA or equivalent, an accounting degree, or hands-on experience in financial reporting, audit, controllership, or accounting systems.
  • Ability to read a trial balance, follow a journal entry through a ledger, and discuss revenue recognition or reconciliation with a controller.
  • Experience building scalable platforms such as ledgers, billing, payments, reporting, or data infrastructure, with an understanding of data models, interfaces, and reuse.
  • Experience in a regulated financial environment, including work with auditors, examiners, SOX controls, or control programs, and understanding of public-company obligations.
  • Technical credibility with engineers, including the ability to follow architecture discussions, pressure-test estimates, and write precise requirements for data-heavy systems.
  • Professional crypto or digital-asset experience is required; if lacking professional experience, passion projects with breadth and depth across digital assets may be suitable.
  • Clear, writing-first communication, with specs, data-flow maps, and decision documents as typical artifacts.
  • Ability to coordinate across engineering, finance, and compliance without positional authority and to unblock work independently.
  • Focus on scalable product outcomes rather than bespoke solutions or process for its own sake.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with SQL and financial data pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver the roadmap for shared financial data and accounting capabilities, including ledger and sub-ledger integrity, balance and activity reconciliation, fee and revenue calculation, client reporting, and general-ledger and financial-close feeds.
  • Partner with finance, internal audit, and external auditors to translate SOX and internal-control requirements into product capabilities; own requirements, plans, and timelines for control-related builds.
  • Set platform standards, interfaces, and data contracts so new products, asset types, legal entities, and acquisitions integrate with shared capabilities rather than bespoke accounting workarounds.
  • Work with compliance, legal, and risk to support regulatory reporting, books-and-records requirements, and examiner and auditor requests.
  • Create dated delivery plans against audit, regulatory, and reporting deadlines, and flag timeline risks early.
  • Reduce manual effort, elapsed time, and risk in month-end and quarter-end close.
  • Establish and track platform measures such as reconciliation breaks, close duration, audit adjustments, manual journal volume, and time to onboard a new product.
  • Map how major products' financial activity reaches the general ledger, identify manual steps and gaps, and prioritize improvements.
  • Coordinate platform design, sequencing, and tradeoffs with engineering leadership and product managers across custody, trading, staking, and financing.
  • Translate finance and accounting requirements into platform capabilities and make the product the system of record.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary, bonus, and stock options.
  • 100% company-paid health insurance for the employee, partner, and dependents.
  • Up to 4% 401(k) company match.
