About the position
The Principal Applied Scientist, Ads Marketplace Engineering will be responsible for designing and implementing the next generation serving platform for the Cardlytics ad marketplace. This role involves rethinking and redefining ads delivery and optimization at scale, with a focus on distributed systems, data engineering, and machine learning. The successful candidate will have experience in building machine learning models, data analysis, and developing pricing and ranking models for digital advertising platforms. Collaboration, prototyping, and influencing the technical direction of the team are key aspects of this role.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely and build rapport with product, research, and engineering teams.
- Quickly prototype hypotheses.
- Design and develop a world-class ad decision engine from the ground-up.
- Take full ownership of product deployments while adhering to best practices for CI/CD.
- Influence the technical direction for the team through conviction and experimentation.
- Have experience in digital media and ad technology, including ad serving, pricing, ranking, and formatting optimizations.
- Prototype and launch models in a product environment.
- Deep-dive into complex problems and bugs and draw conclusions logically.
- Have experience with agile methodologies and playing key roles in agile teams in product delivery.
- Successfully collaborate with cross-functional teams, executives, and representatives across stakeholder groups.
- Be skilled and knowledgeable on the latest machine learning techniques and advancements.
- Be self-critical and constantly strive to accelerate the pace on machine learning.
- Be passionate about the ads ecosystem, with a willingness to learn about and adopt new concepts.
- Be excellent at problem-solving through insightful data analysis and logical deduction.
- Be a strong cross-functional team player, working with product and engineering counterparts to design and implement models.
- Be an effective communicator with a solution-oriented mindset.
Requirements
- Solid grasp of challenges in distributed systems, data engineering, and machine learning
- Prior experience building machine learning models and using data analysis to solve business problems
- Hands-on experience developing pricing and ranking models for digital advertising platforms, including A/B testing and statistical analysis
- Experience in digital media and ad technology, including ad serving, pricing, ranking, and formatting optimizations
- Ability to quickly prototype hypotheses and design and develop ad decision engine
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and playing key roles in agile teams
- Strong problem-solving skills through data analysis and logical deduction
- Knowledgeable on the latest machine learning techniques and advancements
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Passionate about the ads ecosystem and willingness to learn and adopt new concepts
