About The Position

The Primary Care Physician Assistant will join a Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Ithaca, New York, collaborating with an integrated primary care team (PACT) to provide comprehensive outpatient medical services and support excellent clinical outcomes for veterans. The PA examines, diagnoses, and treats primary care patients under physician supervision; develops and maintains ongoing patient management plans; orders and interprets diagnostic tests; prescribes medications and counsels patients; completes clinical documentation within 24 hours of encounters; and follows applicable government and federal healthcare guidelines, formulary protocols, and compliance standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in PA studies; graduate of an accredited PA program.
• Combined academic training and healthcare experience in primary care or ambulatory settings.
• Active, unrestricted PA state license.
• Credentialed and in good standing through federal or veteran healthcare guidelines.
• Active, unrestricted DEA registration.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in PA studies preferred.
• Experience in a government or veteran healthcare environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and treat primary care patients under the supervision of a physician.
• Formulate, implement, and maintain continuous patient management plans.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including X-rays, ECGs, and laboratory work.
• Prescribe medications and counsel patients on proper usage, lifestyle modification, and mental health maintenance.
• Complete clinical documentation within 24 hours of patient encounters.
• Adhere to government and federal healthcare guidelines, formulary protocols, and compliance standards.
