About The Position

The Mankato Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) is hiring a full-time Staff Provider to deliver general medicine and primary care to Veterans in a community-based outpatient setting. CBOCs in the Minneapolis VA Health Care System serve Veterans near their hometowns across Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The clinics offer a community-based practice environment and use an interdisciplinary team approach, with nursing, an onsite clinical pharmacist, mental health services, and access to laboratory, X-ray, and telemedicine capabilities. The Physician Assistant independently manages a panel of general medicine patients as their primary care provider. The role requires substantial clinical judgment and independence, including assessment of patients at a clinic located away from the medical center and coordination with Fargo VA Health Care System consultants. The provider will serve as a designated women’s provider after completing mandatory VHA training. Travel to CBOCs or gap coverage may be required, as determined by the supervisor. Providers meet primary care RVU requirements and may provide coverage for colleagues on leave. Other duties may include managing a subsection of primary care patients defined by disease or demographic group. The position is listed as a 13-month not-to-exceed appointment, to be discussed during the interview. The work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Compensation is described as competitive, with an annual performance bonus and regular salary increases. Benefits include paid leave, federal retirement and insurance programs, possible CME reimbursement, and malpractice liability protection with tail coverage.
