Catholic Preschool Assistant
About The Position
Regina Caeli Academy, a classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition, is seeking a part-time assistant for its PK3/4 classroom. This position is for the 2026-2027 academic year, with approximately 13-14 hours per week at their Charlotte, NC center. The academy emphasizes a small adult-to-child ratio and provides training for all necessary skills. A love for babies and toddlers is essential. RCA offers instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. Childcare/nursery is provided, and no additional vacation days are given, though accommodations are made for sick days. Applicants must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and demonstrate a deep love for the Catholic faith. Curriculum and grading guidelines are provided, and tutors receive training in instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, good organization, timeliness, a traditional view of the student-teacher relationship, and must be actively living the Catholic faith, including having received all appropriate sacraments. All staff must complete a background check and RCA Safe Child training before teaching.
Requirements
- Must be available to work Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm during the academic year.
- Must be available to attend one mandatory training day on August 3, 4, or 5, 2026 (8 am-5 pm).
- Must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church.
- Must have a deep love for the Catholic faith.
- Must be living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all the sacraments appropriate to his or her state in life.
- Must complete a background check.
- Must complete RCA Safe Child training.
- A love for babies and toddlers is required.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with babysitting, childcare, parenting, homeschooling, or working with homeschool children.
- Experience with ministry in a Catholic parish.
- Experience teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes.
- Experience teaching your own children.
- Experience teaching in a classical or private school.
