Catholic Preschool Assistant
About The Position
Regina Caeli Academy is seeking a part-time assistant to assist in a classical and Catholic Preschool 3/4 classroom for up to 14 hours per week at our center in Lapeer, Michigan. No teaching certification or formal teaching experience is required, as all necessary training will be provided. The ideal candidate may have experience in homeschooling, working with homeschool children, parish ministry, teaching Religious Education or Catechism, teaching their own children, or teaching in a classical or private school setting. Regina Caeli Academy is a classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition, offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. This is an hourly position with provided childcare/nursery. Applicants must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and demonstrate a deep love for the Catholic faith. Curriculum and grading guidelines will be provided, and tutors will be trained in instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards. The ideal applicant will possess strong communication skills, good organization, timeliness, a traditional view of the student/teacher relationship, and must be actively living the Catholic faith, including having received all appropriate sacraments. Hours are Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 am to 4:15 pm. Lesson plans and curriculum are provided. Teachers must be willing to prepare for classes at home and teach in a highly structured environment. All staff must complete a background check and one mandatory training day on August 10, 11, or 12, 2026 (TBD), prior to working in the classroom (8 am-5 pm; no childcare provided, nursing babies always welcome). All employees of Regina Caeli are required to have a clear background check.
