About The Position

Shenandoah University’s Child Care Center is hiring a full-time, benefited Preschool Assistant Teacher in Winchester, Virginia. The assistant teacher supports classroom activities and lesson planning, meets children’s basic needs, interacts with children, and helps maintain a positive learning environment. The role includes taking children outside daily, communicating with parents about their child’s day, cleaning and sanitizing toys and tables, and learning and implementing licensing regulations. The position requires physical stamina for active work with children, including bending, squatting to eye level, lifting, and moving quickly for extended periods. The assistant teacher must also complete annual in-service training, CPR and First Aid, and attend staff meetings.

• High energy and physical stamina, including bending, squatting to eye level, lifting 35–40 pounds, and moving quickly for hours.
• Ability to speak gently and clearly to children and provide reassuring updates to parents.

Responsibilities
