About The Position

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is hiring graduate students for its Cyber and Critical Infrastructure Summer Institute (CSI) to work on power systems resilience and security topics aligned with the Laboratory’s national security missions. The summer 2027 program provides opportunities to apply skills to projects involving energy infrastructure modernization and resilience, critical infrastructure security, and defense critical infrastructure. Participants can take part in professional and technical development activities with Laboratory subject matter experts, network with interns and employees, and learn about LLNL’s national security work. The program runs during summer 2027, with start dates ranging from May 17 through June 21 and flexible end dates through September 24. Interns provide technical and/or research support to projects in power systems, critical infrastructure, cybersecurity, and related fields, working with scientists, engineers, and technical staff. Under limited direction and supervision, they conduct research in assigned areas, complete basic-complexity technical assignments, and support scientists on research and development projects. They attend at least one relevant on-site seminar or training class per week and present their work through presentations and/or poster sessions. Other duties may be assigned.
