About The Position

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Postdoctoral Part-Time Professor for Introduction to Computing I (ITI1120, Section C) during the 2026 Fall Semester. This course focuses on problem-solving and algorithm design, basic principles of software engineering, variable types, expressions, control structures, modules, recursion, and fundamental data structures. It includes examples of applications in various disciplines, including engineering. The teaching method for this course will be delivered in person.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in a field related to the course, or relevant work experience after obtaining a Ph.D.
  • Excellent knowledge of course subject matter, demonstrated by having taught similar or related courses, or demonstrated by relevant work experience.
  • Must be a Postdoctoral Part-Time Professor.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Introduction to Computing I (ITI1120, Section C)
  • Deliver instruction in person
  • Employ problem-solving and algorithm design principles
  • Cover basic principles of software engineering including structure decomposition, documentation, testing, and debugging
  • Instruct on variable types, expressions, and assignment
  • Teach conditional and iterative control structures
  • Cover modules and parameter passing
  • Instruct on recursion
  • Cover fundamental data structures: arrays, strings, matrices, records
  • Introduce objects
  • Provide examples of applications in various disciplines, including engineering
