Postdoctoral Fellow, Biology Kehoe Lab

Indiana University Academic Positions•Bloomington, IN

About The Position

The Department of Biology at Indiana University Bloomington seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow for Dr. David Kehoe’s laboratory. The fellow will characterize the DNA-binding activity of novel photoreceptors in marine Synechococcus using DNA/protein biochemistry and computational approaches. The NSF Systems and Synthetic Biology Program-funded project builds on initial studies of Type 4 Chromatic Acclimation (CA4) and will determine DNA-binding sites and how light color regulates the binding activities of two novel photoreceptors identified as master regulators of CA4.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize the DNA-binding activity of novel photoreceptors in marine Synechococcus.
  • Determine the DNA-binding sites of two photoreceptors identified as master regulators of Type 4 Chromatic Acclimation (CA4).
  • Investigate how light color regulates the binding activities of the photoreceptors.
  • Use DNA/protein biochemistry and computational approaches in the research.
