A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Babitt laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The laboratory conducts fundamental and translational research in iron biology, bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling, and kidney disease, with a focus on how BMPs regulate iron metabolism and how these pathways relate to complications of iron disorders and kidney disease. Current projects investigate BMP prodomain function, proteolytic processing, and dimerization and their effects on systemic iron homeostasis. Other work involves collaboration with a chemistry laboratory and clinical investigators on pre-clinical development and clinical translation of novel compounds for treating iron disorders. The laboratory uses multidisciplinary approaches including gene editing, genetic mouse models, primary cell isolation and culture, signal transduction assays, flow cytometry, single-cell sequencing, and multiomic methodologies. Fellows will work in a collaborative environment connected to biomedical institutions in the greater Boston area. Applicants should submit a CV or resume, cover letter, and contact information for three references directly to Dr. Jodie Babitt by email or through the provided link. The posting states that applications submitted through Workday will not be forwarded to the hiring manager and may not be reviewed. The position is onsite at 60 Blossom Street.
