Postdoctoral Research Fellow Babitt Lab

Mass General Brigham•Boston, MA

About The Position

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Babitt laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School. The laboratory conducts fundamental and translational research in iron biology, bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling, and kidney disease. Its research focuses on the molecular basis by which BMPs regulate iron metabolism and the connections between these pathways and complications of iron disorders and kidney disease. Current projects include understanding BMP prodomain function, proteolytic processing, and dimerization, including their effects on systemic iron homeostasis; and collaborating with chemistry researchers and clinical investigators on preclinical development and clinical translation of novel compounds to treat iron disorders. The laboratory uses multidisciplinary approaches such as gene editing, genetic mouse models, primary cell isolation and culture, signal transduction assays, flow cytometry, single-cell sequencing, and multiomic methodologies. Postdoctoral fellows work in a collaborative environment connected to biomedical institutions in the greater Boston area.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in the biomedical sciences.
  • Ideal applicants will have an experimental background in cell biology, molecular biology, and mouse genetics.
  • Strong publication record.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
