The Post Doctoral Fellow conducts research in a specified field while receiving advanced training and close supervision from faculty and designated Principal Investigators. The research focus is developing and applying advanced machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence tools to multiple types of genomics data—including genetics (GWAS), transcriptomics, epigenetics, and proteomics—to investigate the genomic etiology of complex diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, age-related motor traits, and Parkinson disease. The fellow works in Emory University’s School of Medicine, Department of Human Genetics, jointly with Principal Investigators Dr. Michael Epstein and Dr. Jingjing Yang. The role is intended to strengthen professional skills and research independence in preparation for a research career. It is an entry-level, temporary research-trainee appointment. The initial appointment is one year, with renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funding is available; appointments may not exceed five years. The fellow will also be encouraged to apply for career-development awards.
