Post Doctoral Fellow

Emory•Atlanta, GA

About The Position

Emory University's Department of Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow. The fellow will receive mentorship from Dr. Joshua D. Wallach at Emory University and Reshma Ramachandran at Yale University while contributing to a federally funded research project conducted in collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The project evaluates evidence supporting patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures used in clinical research and pharmaceutical regulation. Research will primarily use systematic review and psychometric methodologies to assess PRO measures' validity, measurement properties, applicability, and supporting evidence for their use as clinical trial endpoints. The fellow is expected to lead one or two independent research projects aimed at publication in high-impact medical journals and contribute to an ongoing grant on the role of real-world evidence in clinical, regulatory, and policy contexts. Work includes study design, systematic review protocols, literature searches, data extraction and analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, and dissemination to scientific and policy audiences. Opportunities may also be available to work on clinical research methodology, meta-research, and the generation, evaluation, and synthesis of evidence for regulatory decision-making. The role provides advanced research training under a designated Principal Investigator to develop professional skills and research independence. The fellow may design and evaluate experiments, develop new research ideas, prepare and publish scientific manuscripts, operate specific equipment, teach techniques, and train or supervise research staff. The initial appointment is for one year, with possible renewal for a second year depending on funding and performance. The general appointment terms describe temporary research-trainee positions, with renewal expected when progress is satisfactory and funds are available; appointments cannot exceed five years. Salary is based on the NIH postdoctoral research salary scale.
