Pool and Beach Attendant
About The Position
Dune Deck Beach Club is seeking seasonal Pool/Beach Attendants for its Outdoor Pursuits Department. The role is based at the club in Westhampton Beach, New York, and is available from May through September 30, 2027. Pool/Beach Attendants provide personal, professional service to club members throughout the property in connection with outdoor activities. The hands-on position involves organizing, instructing, encouraging, and participating in activities to help create the Discovery Land Company experience for members and employees. The attendant follows Outdoor Pursuits procedures, supports daily club operations and activity preparation, maintains beach equipment and supplies, and assists members and guests with seating, towels, water equipment, games, and other activities. The role requires flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and may involve long hours. Work takes place indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and includes extended periods of standing, walking, and moving, as well as lifting and carrying items sometimes weighing more than 50 pounds.
Requirements
- Previous experience in the guest service industry.
- Ability to work flexible hours and weekends, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to stay calm and focused during busy periods.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for periods exceeding eight hours.
- Ability to lift and carry items sometimes weighing more than 50 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- CPR certification is a plus.
- Certificates or qualifications are preferred.
- Hospitality experience is preferred but not required.
- Additional language skills are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Follow Outdoor Pursuits Standard Operating Procedures.
- Perform assigned duties throughout the club, including stocking, cleaning, and preparing for member excursions and activities.
- Conduct weekly safety checks of beach equipment to ensure it meets SOP guidelines.
- Attend morning briefings and end-of-day shutdowns according to the schedule set by management.
- Attend, participate in, and support Outdoor Pursuits training and staff meetings; communicate effectively with supervisors and managers.
- Represent the property and Discovery Land Company as an ambassador on and off the property.
- Follow the Employee Handbook and stay current with changes.
- Arrive on time for shifts and job assignments.
- Help implement monthly stock takes and inventories of parts and tools for the area, as advised by the Outdoor Pursuits Manager.
- Greet members and participate in activities and games with them.
- Seat members and move chairs and umbrellas as needed.
- Provide towels to members as necessary and keep towels and suntan lotion stocked at stations.
- Help members in and out of the water using water equipment, and ensure the safety of members and children in and around the pools and beach.
- Make bonfires.
- Assist members and guests with activities.
