About The Position

Discovery Land Company is hiring seasonal Pool/Beach Attendants for the Outdoor Pursuits Department at Dune Deck Beach Club in Westhampton Beach, New York. The position is available from May through September 30, 2027. The Pool/Beach Attendant provides personal, professional service to club members throughout the property in connection with outdoor activities. This hands-on role involves organizing, instructing, encouraging, and participating in activities, while helping create the Discovery Land Company experience for members and fellow employees. Attendants follow Outdoor Pursuits procedures, prepare and maintain activity areas and equipment, assist members and guests, and help ensure safety at the beach and pools. The role requires a positive, professional, service-oriented approach, teamwork, flexible scheduling, and the ability to work for extended periods in indoor and outdoor settings and varied weather conditions.

Requirements

Previous experience in the guest service industry.
Ability to work flexible hours and weekends, including evenings and holidays.
Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to remain calm and focused during busy periods.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to stand, walk, and move for periods exceeding eight hours.
Ability to lift and carry items, sometimes weighing more than 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

CPR certification is a plus.
Certificates or qualifications are preferred.
Hospitality experience is preferred but not required.
Additional languages are preferred.

Responsibilities

Follow Outdoor Pursuits Standard Operating Procedures.
Perform assigned duties throughout the Club, including stocking, cleaning, and preparing for member excursions and activities.
Conduct weekly safety checks of beach equipment to ensure it meets SOP guidelines.
Attend morning briefings and end-of-day shutdowns according to the management schedule.
Attend, participate in, and support Outdoor Pursuits training and staff meetings; communicate effectively with supervisors and managers.
Represent the property and Discovery Land Company as an ambassador on and off the property.
Stay informed about and adhere to changes in the Employee Handbook.
Arrive on time for shifts and job assignments.
Help conduct monthly stock takes and inventories of parts and tools for the area, as advised by the Outdoor Pursuits Manager.
Greet members and participate in activities and games with them.
Seat members and move chairs and umbrellas as needed.
Provide towels to members and keep towels and suntan lotion stocked at stations.
Help members in and out of the water with water equipment and help ensure the safety of members and children in and around pools and the beach.
Make bonfires.
Assist members and guests with activities.
