About The Position

Under general supervision, the Police Records and Operations Support Technician performs records management, administrative support, and customer service functions that contribute to the efficient operation of the University Police Department and support a safe, inclusive, and welcoming campus environment. As a member of CSUF PD, the Police Records and Operations Support Technician supports department operations by performing Police Records Bureau functions, including leading the student worker team, training and scheduling, managing lost and found property and campus key control programs, providing live scan fingerprinting services, and serving as one of the department's information technology coordinators (DITC). Applies a thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures, along with a working knowledge of university infrastructure, policies, and procedures, to provide effective support and service to the campus community. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work or the equivalent.
  • Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.
  • Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
  • Thorough mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Expertise in using office software packages, technology, and systems.
  • Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects.
  • Ability to independently interpret and apply policies and procedures and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist.
  • Ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to work area.
  • Ability to understand problems from a broad perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas.
  • Ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions.
  • Ability to perform business math, analyze budgetary data, and make accurate projections requiring some inference.
  • Ability to effectively write and present own reports.
  • Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels including highly sensitive interpersonal situations.
  • Ability to use negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects.
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment.
  • A valid California driver’s license and reliable means of transportation.
