About The Position

Bon Secours - Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center is seeking a locum OB Hospitalist to provide coverage. This is a teaching facility with OB residents present on L&D who can first assist. The laborists also currently help provide collaboration to midwives on L&D. The practice setting is a hospital with 10 L&D beds. The patient population consists of 20% low-risk pregnancy, 80% high-risk pregnancy, and 10% GYN cases. Approximately 25% of patients undergo C-section. The nursery is Level III. The documentation system is EPIC. St. Vincent is a Level 1 trauma center, and L&D is a Level 4. The position requires in-house call and weekend coverage.

Requirements

• Self-Query NPDB that has been pulled within 30-days of presentation [REQUIRED]
• BLS/ACLS - [REQUIRED]

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage for OB Hospitalist duties.
• Manage low-risk pregnancies (e.g., History of Twins, Toxemia, Pyelonephritis).
• Manage high-risk pregnancies (e.g., with Toxemia, Diabetes, Class II or Higher Cardiacs, Chronic Lung Problems, Chronic Renal Disease).
• Perform FHR Interpretation – NST/CST/FSE.
• Perform and interpret OB ultrasounds, including Level I/Screening (Viability) and Level II/Targeted (Anatomic).
• Perform routine vaginal deliveries, low forceps deliveries.
• Make decisions for C-sections.
• Manage complicated deliveries including C-sections, breech births, multiple births, and abruptions.
• Perform VBACs.
• Repair 3rd & 4th degree lacerations.
• Perform operative/major gynecology procedures including Ectopic Pregnancy, Ovary Removal, Cystectomy, Extensive LOA’s.
• Perform Laparoscopic Diagnostic/Minor procedures such as Tubal Ligation, LOA’s, Chromal Tubation.
• Perform Surgical Gynecology – Open procedures.
• Perform Office/Minor Gynecology procedures including IUD insertion, Cystoscopy, Colposcopy, Cryosurgery, LEEP.
• Collaborate with midwives on L&D.
• Provide first assist when needed.
• Provide weekend coverage.
• Be on call in-house.
