About The Position

We are seeking a Locum Physician for Hospitalist OB/GYN coverage at St. Joseph Warren Hospital in Warren, Ohio. The practice setting is the Labor and Delivery (L&D) unit. This coverage is needed because we do not have enough employed physicians and midwives to cover the laborist model. The coverage is needed as soon as possible until more providers are hired. Physicians work a 7 am to 7 pm shift, while midwives cover 7 pm to 7 am. Physicians will also be on call for midwife coverage from 7 pm to 7 am. The L&D unit is a Level III Nursery. The documentation system used is Epic. The practice requires coverage for low and high-risk pregnancies, routine and complicated labor and delivery procedures (including C-sections, breech births, multiple births, abruption, VBACs, and repair of 3rd & 4th-degree lacerations), and emergency gynecological coverage for unassigned cases. Required gynecological procedures include laparoscopic diagnostic/minor procedures like tubal ligation, LOA's, and chromal tubation, as well as open surgical gynecology.

Requirements

Board Certified or Board Eligible
ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications
Ohio license (or willingness to obtain license)
A Self-Query NPDB report (pulled within 30 days) is required at the time of presentation

Responsibilities

Provide coverage for low-risk pregnancies (e.g., History of Twins, Toxemia, Pyelonephritis, etc.)
Provide coverage for high-risk pregnancies (e.g., with Toxemia, Diabetes, Class II or Higher Cardiacs, Chronic Lung Problems, Chronic Renal Disease, etc.)
Perform routine deliveries – vaginal, low forceps
Make decisions for C-sections
Perform complicated deliveries – C-section, breech, multiple births, abruptions, etc.
Perform VBAC’s
Repair of 3rd & 4th-degree lacerations
Provide laparoscopic diagnostic/minor procedures (e.g., Tubal Ligation, LOA’s, Chromal Tubation)
Perform open surgical gynecology procedures
Provide ER coverage for unassigned cases
Be on call for midwife coverage from 7 pm to 7 am
