About The Position

This is a locum tenens position requiring a Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide coverage in a full-service acute care hospital. The role involves both call support and in-office/clinic support. The practice is 100% adult and hospital-based, with a team consisting of one physician and two mid-level providers. The hospital has 250 beds, including 60 ICU beds, and offers onsite laboratory and radiology services. Electronic documentation is managed through EPIC. The physician will perform a range of cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgeries, including but not limited to CABG, congenital defect management, valvular repair/replacement, aneurysm repairs, lung resections (VATS), chest wall procedures, esophageal and diaphragmatic surgeries, endarterectomies, bronchoscopy, and management of acute hemodynamic issues.

Requirements

  • Board Certified in Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification.
  • Valid Ohio state license or IMLC.
  • Must be available for any dates specified in the job description.
  • Must be Board Certified.
  • Valid Ohio medical license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with vascular surgery experience will be prioritized.
  • Clean malpractice/background history is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide call support for cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Offer support in the office/clinic setting during operational hours.
  • Perform general cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgeries.
  • Conduct coronary artery bypass grafting.
  • Manage congenital defects.
  • Perform valvular repair and replacements.
  • Execute aneurysm repairs.
  • Perform lung resections, including VATS.
  • Conduct chest wall and pleural procedures.
  • Perform surgical procedures for the esophagus and diaphragm.
  • Perform endarterectomies (carotid and renal).
  • Manage ventilation.
  • Perform bronchoscopy.
  • Evaluate and manage acute volume and blood pressure issues.
