About The Position

We are seeking a locum Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician to cover the period from October 8 (7 AM) to October 12 (7 AM). The role involves managing the surgical schedule in the morning and handling office hours in the afternoon. Responsibilities include rounding and overseeing post-operative patients in the ICU, with an expected patient load of 2-5. The physician will also handle calls from the Cath Lab, inpatient units, and the emergency room, and will be responsible for urgent CABG and AVR procedures as necessary. Experience with TAVR is a prerequisite. There may be additional opportunities in 2026 and 2027. Weekend coverage is required once a month.

Requirements

  • Board Certification or Board Eligible (within 5 years of training).
  • BLS (American Heart Association) certification required.
  • Recent 12-month Quality Data/OPPE Reports.
  • Recent 24-month Patient Contacts/Procedure Logs.
  • Minimum of 25 Category I CME credits per calendar year.
  • Experience with TAVR is a prerequisite.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS, ATLS, and PALS are not required.

Responsibilities

  • Cover the period from October 8 (7 AM) to October 12 (7 AM).
  • Manage the surgical schedule in the morning.
  • Handle office hours in the afternoon.
  • Round and provide oversight for post-operative patients in the ICU (2-5 patients).
  • Handle calls from the Cath Lab, inpatient units, and the emergency room.
  • Perform urgent CABG and AVR procedures as necessary.
  • Perform film reviews as requested by cardiologists from the Cath Lab.
  • Provide weekend coverage once a month (Saturday 7 AM to Monday 7 AM).
  • Conduct inpatient rounding as needed during weekend coverage.
  • Be on call for inpatient and ER procedures limited to emergencies only during weekend coverage.
