About The Position

The Urgent Care is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or a Nurse Family Nurse Practitioner to join our clinical team across five walk-in locations in the Greater New Orleans area. This is a full-scope role in an established practice, offering meaningful clinical autonomy, a varied case mix, and the support of a collaborative provider team. Since 2004, The Urgent Care has served as a trusted healthcare resource for Southeast Louisiana. What began as a single walk-in clinic has grown into five locations across the Greater New Orleans area, complemented by a statewide telehealth practice, and we have cared for more than 500,000 patients along the way. Our mission has remained consistent throughout: to deliver high-quality, accessible, and compassionate care to the individuals and families in our community. In this role, you will provide comprehensive walk-in care to patients of all ages, managing a case mix that ranges from routine illness and minor injury to time-sensitive procedural work. You will practice with substantial independence, supported by an established supervising physician and a clinical team that values collaboration. The position is available on a full-time or part-time basis and requires rotation among our Greater New Orleans clinic locations. Two decades of operation and half a million patient encounters have produced stable systems, experienced staff, and well-developed referral relationships. You manage patients from presentation through disposition, with your supervising or collaborating physician serving as a clinical resource rather than an approval checkpoint for routine care. Our volume keeps procedural skills current — laceration repair, incision and drainage, splinting, and wound care are routine, and you read your own radiographs, EKGs, and labs. This is shift-based walk-in medicine, so the pace is brisk but your responsibilities end when the shift does: no continuing panel, no overnight inbox. Across five locations you'll find colleagues to consult, real coverage when you need time away, and variety without changing employers.

Requirements

Physician Assistant Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program
Current Louisiana Physician Assistant license in good standing
Current NCCPA certification (PA-C)
Nurse Practitioner Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (MSN or DNP)
Current Louisiana RN and APRN licensure in good standing
Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner through ANCC or AANP
Ability to enter into a collaborative practice agreement in accordance with Louisiana State Board of Nursing requirements
Minimum of two years of practice as a PA or NP in urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or primary care
Current BLS/CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
Active DEA registration and Louisiana prescriptive authority, or the ability to obtain both
Demonstrated proficiency in minor procedures and interpretation of diagnostic studies
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel among clinic locations

Nice To Haves

Three or more years of practice as a PA or NP in urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or primary care
Spanish language proficiency
Current DOT certification (FMCSA Medical Examiner)
Working knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and standard billing and coding practices
Experience with electronic medical record systems and digital documentation workflows
Strong organizational and time-management skills in a high-volume clinical setting

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care, including assessment, physical examination, diagnosis, and treatment
Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including radiographs, electrocardiograms, and laboratory testing
Perform common urgent care procedures such as laceration repair, incision and drainage, splinting, and wound care
Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans consistent with current clinical guidelines
Document patient encounters accurately and maintain timely electronic medical records
Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions clearly and compassionately
Collaborate with your supervising physician and clinic teams to ensure continuity of care
Rotate among clinic locations across the Greater New Orleans area as assigned
