About The Position

This position is for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to assess, plan, and provide emergent, urgent, and acute primary care in the After Hours Clinic for Grand River Hospital District. The After Hours Care is a high-quality alternative to the Emergency Department for treating non-threatening illnesses and injuries. This is a PRN, rotating position with a 70-hour biweekly schedule, consisting of 10-hour shifts—one week at 40 hours and the other at 30 hours.

Requirements

Physician Assistant: Requires graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Active Colorado Physician Assistant licensure required.
Nurse Practitioner: Requires active Colorado Licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in area of specialty based on RN licensure and Colorado authority for advanced practice.
American Heart Association ACLS and PALS certifications are required upon hire and must be maintained throughout GRHD employment.
National Physician Assistant certification through NCCPA preferred.
Master’s Degree in area of specialty preferred.
3 to 5 years working experience in an Emergency Department and/or clinical setting in a similar role preferred.

Responsibilities

Examines patients, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data including health history and results of examinations under the supervision of a physician.
Works in collaboration with Physicians to assess the physical needs of patients admitted to the After Hours Clinic.
Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to Physicians and other departments.
Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment.
Participates in quality assurance planning, initiatives, and improvement projects.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
