About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) in a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) facility located in Lanham, Maryland. The assignment is for 13 weeks, with a potential for extension. The role involves providing direct patient care, developing and implementing treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care for medically complex patients. The PTA will work in a skilled nursing facility setting and must adhere to facility policies, infection control, and safety standards.

Requirements

• Active Physical Therapy Assistant license in Maryland or eligible for licensure in Maryland.
• Associate degree from an accredited PTA program.
• Ability to work in a LTAC/SNF environment and adhere to the stated schedule (8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., five days per week).
• Strong documentation and communication skills; ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in inpatient rehabilitation or skilled nursing facility/LTAC settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient status and contribute to developing and implementing individualized PT treatment plans for residents in an LTAC/SNF setting.
• Deliver skilled PTA interventions including therapeutic exercises, gait training, range of motion, balance activities, transfers, and mobility training.
• Apply modalities and manual techniques as appropriate under supervision, monitoring patient response and safety.
• Document patient progress, update treatment plans, and communicate with the supervising PT and rehab team.
• Collaborate with nursing and therapy staff to support discharge planning and continuity of care for medically complex patients.
• Maintain adherence to facility policies, infection control practices, and safety standards in all patient care activities.
