About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) in a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) setting, specifically within a long-term care environment like a nursing home. The assignment is for 13 weeks, with a start date of 09/21/2026. The role involves providing direct physical therapy services under the supervision of a Physical Therapist (PT) to residents, focusing on improving their functional independence and mobility.

Requirements

Active Physical Therapy Assistant licensure/certification in New Mexico (NM)
CPR/BLS certification
Relevant PTA experience in LTAC or skilled nursing facility settings preferred
Ability to work in a long-term care environment; reliable to meet 36 hours per week and shift schedule
Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills

Responsibilities

Provide physical therapy assistant services under supervision per the plan of care for residents in a LTAC-like long-term care setting
Implement and progress therapeutic interventions, including therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfers, and range-of-motion activities
Monitor patient response to treatment, document progress, and communicate findings to the supervising PT and nursing staff
Assist with activity tolerance, mobility training, and ADLs to promote functional independence
Maintain safety during patient handling, utilize proper body mechanics, and uphold infection control and equipment maintenance standards
Contribute to interdisciplinary team rounds and care planning with timely documentation and clear communication
