About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Physical Therapy Assistant in a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) setting in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The assignment is for 13 weeks, with a start date of 09/14/2026. The role involves providing physical therapy assistant services under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist in a skilled nursing facility with an LTAC-focused therapy program. The position offers guaranteed hours and a defined weekly schedule.

Requirements

Active Physical Therapy Assistant license in New Mexico or eligible for licensure.
Associate degree from an accredited PTA program.
Ability to work in a LTAC/skilled nursing setting and to cover the assigned shift (08:00–16:30).
Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work with an interdisciplinary team.
If sourcing through an agency, the vendor must have an NM caregivers account.

Responsibilities

Deliver physical therapy assistant services under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist within an LTAC/skilled nursing setting.
Implement treatment plans including therapeutic exercises, ROM, strength training, gait training, balance activities, and functional mobility training.
Monitor patient progress, document responses to therapy, adjust activities under PT direction, and communicate effectively with the care team.
Assist with patient positioning, transfers, gait aid use, adaptive equipment, and safety protocols to prevent falls or injuries.
Maintain accurate treatment notes, schedule and coordinate sessions, and ensure proper handoffs to nursing and therapy staff.
Coordinate with staffing and agency requirements as described in the job notes (NM caregivers account).
